This gorgeous Nacho is smothered with liberal amounts of guacamole, Meat, and sour cream!
I spent last week driving to the west coast to visit friends, see the sights, surf, and of course, sample the nachos. I can say that Nachos are easy to find at many restaurants in San Diego. I carefully chose two places in which to test, the first of which was Taco Surf in Pacific Beach. Not to be confused with the similarly named Taco surf in Long Beach or the Surf Taco restaurant, THIS Taco Surf is a legend in San Diego. They provide a great menu of Mexican food at prices that are only beat by the quality. Trust me when I say that this is a MUST restaurant for anyone living in (or visiting) San Diego. This small “hole in the wall” is decorated with a large number of beautiful surf boards. The owner obviously has two loves: Great food and Great Surfing!
Taco Surf offers two types of Nachos. The first is their Torey nachos, which is simply chips with cheese, and a “supreme” nacho that they call Carne Asada Chips, not Nachos. The Carne Asada Chips at Taco surf are a body of chips covered in beans, cheese, and carne asada. On top of this are several blops of guacamole and sour cream. Their guacamole has Tomatoes in it.
The first thing you will notice, if your previous nacho experiences are like mine, that these nachos arrive with an awesomely large portion of guacamole! This isn’t a tiny scoop fit for 2 chips, not, this will last the entire nacho! Plus, this Guacamole tastes fantastic, and it even has the Tomatoes in it (I love it when they do that)The nacho itself is large, and could possibly fill two people, or one big eater like me to breaking point. The meat is delicious, tender, and flavorful. Although the bottom layer of chips are relatively baron, the plethora of toppings allow them to be fully covered while leaving the top chips smothered as well. The beans compliment the nacho well without being overpowering, and the sour cream is plentiful. You might notice that their aren’t any jalapenos. Trust me, by the time you finish your first chip you probably won’t care. This nacho is fantastic, and I give it my highest honors!
