Sadly, the Low light conditions prevented me from getting a good picture, but trust me, the Nachos are colorful and appetizing.

Smack dab in the middle of Albuquerque’s Historic Nob Hill District is the only Irish pub worth going to in the state: Two Fools Tavern. Combining amazing ambiance, top choice food, great Draught Beers, and the biggest Whiskey selection I have ever seen, Two Fools is a popular destination for all sorts. I myself prefer to go and get some bangers and mash and watch the latest Manchester United game. Their menu is comprised primarily of Irish and British foods, often with a New Mexican Twist. However, despite this they still have a few classic appetizers that are more standard bar fare…and you know what that means: Nachos! Two fools offers two different types of nachos; Irish nachos, which are made out of “irish potato chips and cottage beef”, and Traditional Nachos. I will leave the Irish nachos for a later review, and stick to the classic this time around.

Two Fools Nachos are a body of chips, covered in ground beef, black beans, green chili, and Shredded cheese, all of which is layered a second time on top. At the very top are tomatoes, sour cream, and guacamole (added cost).

Its always nice to see a place make nachos with black beans. I think they are a much cleaner and healthier alternative to re-fried beans that are often used. The Nacho portion is massive and more than enough to feed two people as a meal, or 4+ as a group appetizer. Even more appealing is the fact that the nachos are obviously prepared in an oven and not a microwave. Microwave’s often leave chips tasting stale and tough. When an oven is used, as it is in two fools, the chips come out extremely crispy (at the cost of some dryness). These Nachos were definitely above average, as I would definitely order them again, however nothing about them was extremely memorable either.
