Duran Station Nachos

More People should cover nachos in a green chilie sauce

Located in a renovated Fire station, Duran’s Station is a nice little New Mexican restaurant I had the pleasure of discovering recently. The food selection is standard New Mexico fare: Enchiladas, Burritos, Huevos Rancheros, etc. The setup is pleasant, and the decor is designed to reflect the buildings past. The service was quick and nice, but I went during an off hour, so I’m not sure how it compares during peak hours. The Prices were a little on the steep side, but the quality and portions more than make up for it.

Like most reputable restaurants, Duran’s Station offers 2 different Nachos: A Basic Nacho, and a “Deluxe” Nacho (In this case its called the “Station Nacho”). As always, I went with the Deluxe Nacho. This Nacho came with Ground Beef and Beans, piled on chips, covered with a nice blend of shredded Cheese. It comes with sides of Guacamole, Salsa, and a Green Chili Sauce.

I really enjoyed that they put the extra toppings on the side. Its all too often that sour cream and guacamole bleed into the nacho and become inaccessible to all other chips in the pile. The Green Chili Sauce was extremely tasty, and worked well with the Nachos. The meat, although not very spiced, was thoroughly enjoyable. The Nacho size was exemplary, and more than filled my monstrous appetite.  Although this nacho did everything very well, it didn’t excel in any particular field. I definitely plan to return to Duran’s Station and order the nachos again. Next time I return i plan to order it with shredded lettuce and Tomatoes on top.
